Who came, who stitched what, who gets paid: running a tailoring team

Staff logins by role, attendance with location, leave approvals and payslips — how a stitching business manages masters and tailors without keeping it all in the owner's head.

The short answer

Give every master and tailor their own login with a role that shows only what they need — their work, not your prices. Let them check in from the shop with their location, ask for leave from their phone, and get payslips from the same record. The owner stops being the only memory of who did what.

The problem

Team chaos.

Who came in, who is on leave, who stitched which piece — all in the owner's head. Pay day is an argument, and a new master takes weeks to learn the way the shop works.

With VirtueTailor

Team and HR, built in

  • Staff logins by role
  • Roles and permissions
  • Attendance check-in with location
  • Leave requests and approvals
  • Pay by month, by garment, or both
  • Payslips and employee photos

Why give tailors their own login?

When only the owner can see the orders, every question comes to the owner. Give each master a login and they see the pieces they hold, the measurements on them and what is due first. They move their own work on the board. The owner gets their time back.

Roles keep the right things private

  • Owner — everything, including money and staff.
  • Manager — runs the floor and the counter, without changing staff or pay.
  • Master or tailor — their own work and its measurements; no prices, no bills.

A tailor can move only the pieces given to them, and cannot hand work to someone else. That keeps the board honest.

Attendance without a register

Staff check in and out on their phone, and the check-in records the location. Set the weekly day off, a full day's hours and the festivals the shop closes for, and the register fills itself: present, absent, leave, half day, holiday. The owner or manager can correct a day by hand, with a reason, for when somebody asks later.

Leave and pay

  1. Leave asked on the phone

The tailor asks; the owner approves or declines. Nobody forgets what was agreed.

  2. Pay from the record

Pay each person by the month, by the garment, or both. Finished garments build the payable; absences come off a salary.

  3. A payslip for each person

Clear, printable, and the same numbers the owner sees. Each payment goes into the shop's expenses too.

Who stitched which piece?

Because every move on the board is done by a person, each garment's history shows who cut it, who stitched it and who finished it. When a customer comes back delighted — or not — you know whom to tell. Over a season it also shows which masters carry the most work. See reports for a tailoring business.

Questions

How do I track attendance of tailors in my shop?

Staff check in on their phones when they arrive, with their location recorded. The register follows the shop's working days, weekly off and festival holidays.

Can my tailors use the app without seeing prices?

Yes. A master or tailor role shows their own work and measurements but not prices, bills or other staff.

Can I make payslips for my staff?

Yes. VirtueTailor works out pay from attendance and finished garments — monthly salary, per garment, or both — and makes a payslip for each person.
